Discord Sidebar UI
Research | Interface Redesign | UI/UX | 2018
OVERVIEW
Discord is an all-in-one voice and text chat that's free, secure, and works on both your desktop and phone. Used by a wide demographic of people, and it’s popularity is rising among communities. Used by streamers/game players and professionals for community development.
THE PROBLEM
Discord's UI is simple, and is similar to Slack. The sidebar UI and lack of organizational features stick out. If a user is a part of multiple servers, it is often difficult to navigate which server created a ping, and the user is often found scrolling through and quickly scanning to see where the notification came from.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
Creating a organization system to reduce server clutter. The ability to group servers together into one and keeping grouped ones at the top of the list, letting users group similar servers together, making it easier to find what you need.
