OVERVIEW

Toronto New Wave is a multimedia festival that celebrates VR/AR/XR (virtual reality, augmented reality, experimental reality), Music, and Film. As a part of Madwharf Studios, we have had the opportunity to develop the graphics and overall branding for the past 2 years. TNW is a curated showcase of local/international artists, and established and up-and-coming creatives.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

In it’s 3rd iteration, TNW2019 was set to be in it’s biggest venue to date. The first year the styling was underground grassroots, and last year was vaporwave. This time around the style developed needed to be cleaner and more modernized, all while keeping the tradition of the underground vaporwave aesthetic. Keeping true to the TNW culture, we developed a colour palette that was modern, yet was an homage to what TNW is all about.

Colour palette; Main and Accent/Highlight.

Logo colour to be left black and white because heavy colour to be used in graphics.

Freeform gradient used as a common design element.

Border text used as a common design element.

Corner boxes and colour underlay used as a common design element.
